SQUASH SUPPORT SYSTEM

My next door neighbor is the cutest little Chinese farmer. Yes, she lives in Queens and when you enter her backyard you are entering an urban farm. You could feed the entire block with the amount of vegetables growing in her yard on any day. She has adorable grandchildren who always make me smile as they play outside my kitchen window.
She likes to proudly show me the progress of her garden, wrangling me in as I walk or bike or rollerblade by. I don't understand what she is saying, but through the giggles and smiles her sheer enthusiasm for her fresh vegetable garden translates very clearly. And I am sure from my oohs and aahs she understands how impressed I am. She rigged this support system for one of her larger squashes. I just had to share it on the blog.

Just love the Chinese cucuzzas. And that suspension system, well what can I say, brilliant. The mouth watering dishes are as usual well represented in your photos. Here in Sicily we are having a lot of cucuzzas. Love Rocco
