Not only are bake sales fun and creative ways for kids to share food and culture, but its a great opportunity for parents and their children to spend time together after school aside from going over math and spelling homework. Ban vending machines and dare I say processed meat ravioli and tater tots. Ban high fructose corn syrup. Ban M&M fundraising. But bake sales? Come on!

"Don't Let Them Eat Cake"
All of the elementary schools in my part of the woods of Queens are building gigantic additions to make the schools K thru 8 and they are encroaching on the open space where as kids we played basketball and stickball during recess and after school. Leaving kids with no outdoor options is surely not a good way to battle the obesity epidemic. Instead they come up with the idiotic solution to ban bake sales in NYC Public Schools? How unAmerican is that?

Pathetic. They should add olive oil and pasta to their ridiculous manu. Did you know that the NYC Dept. of Education has chefs on staff. For what to come up with french fries and maccheroni and cheese. Ridiculous.
